6/1/2023 0 Comments Azumanga daioh omnibus![]() ![]() There’s no notable increase in quality and the humor is weak until the end, but it’s entertaining enough to follow those characters through their school years until college. ![]() But over the course of reading the series, I became accustomed to the characters (however ridiculous generic they seemed initially), which made me like the series a little bit more, or maybe liking is wrong, it was easier to forgive the weaknesses of the series toward the end (familiarity breeds likability?). ![]() So initially I found not much to like in Azumanga Daioh. The humor, also unlike in Yotsuba&! feels like one of those tired canned jokes comic strips that you’ll find in countless newspapers. Azumanga Daioh has a completely different approach, it’s a four-panel comic strip with very simple and plain art that feels much more generic and less accomplished than the art in Yotsuba&! ever did. If you come to Azumanga Daioh expecting something similar in style like Yotsuba&! be prepared to be disappointed. ![]()
